….. a Ministerial Association will host Kitsap County clergy, chaplains and spiritual leaders in a second annual retreat day Oct. 16th at Firway House Retreat….The retreat will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with the theme “Thank God You’re Here!” The day includes holy leisure, celebration of call and humor. A rustic outdoor labyrinth is available on site for prayer, play and pondering.…..
My local newspaper seems to be fodder for many articles lately and then readily delegated to the dumpster for toxic removal. (IMHO). This weeks surprise in the RELIGION section was the above ministerial retreat complete with labyrinth and all the expected goodies for….pondering?
So now it seems I have to research labyrinths since they are coming to a neighboring town so that our local spiritual leaders can do their Buddhist meditations for “holy leisure”.
I found this at http://www.Cephas-library.com.
Most of the practicing New Age occult world has known and still does, that the introduction of the labyrinth prayer walk is a victory for their cause, bringing the unsuspecting Christians into agreement with the overall plan of the Aquarian Age, where those participating in this practice could be captured or ensnared into the ways of Satan. (‘The Labyrinth: The Occult Has Truly Gone Mainstream’ can be found at http://www.cephas-library.com/na/new_age_labyrinth.html )
Even though the labyrinth is a Western concept, it shares some similarities with Asian monastic and spiritual practices. The patterns of the labyrinth are similar in design and conception to the mandalas of South Asian Buddhism, which are physical representations of the spiritual realm designed to aid in meditation. Labyrinths blend their visual symbolism with the process of walking, which is similar to the Japanese Zen practice of kinhin, literally “walking meditation,” where all of the attention is focused on the process of each step, one foot in front of the other, and the breath is controlled and regulated. Both of these techniques are used in Buddhist meditation, which combines the elements of calming and insight into the single goal of samadhi, or “awareness.””
From what I am reading from different sites the labyrinth is an ancient symbol of wholeness with a purposeful path to a journey to our own center and back. It creates a sacred place to “That Which is Within.” This journey to center of our deepest self broadens our understanding of who your are.
Why would a Christian be involved in such an activity? We have already learned that to go “within” is an occult eastern mystical practice using meditation and controlled breathing patterns. To go “within” is to search for one’s own divinity. Again I have to ask why a Christian would even think twice about getting involved in the metaphysical.
“In walking the Chartres style labyrinth the walker meanders through each of the four quadrants several times before reaching the goal. An expectancy is created as to when the center will be reached. At the center is a rosette design which has a rich symbolic value including that of enlightenment. The four arms of the cross are readily visible and provide significant Christian symbolism.”
Can you see the readily visible four arms of the cross in this labyrinth? Oh yeah…maybe there…no…there…I give… I guess they are referring to the gaps between the four quadrants but to suggest that this is a Christian symbol is ridiculous. The above passage from lessons4living explains that reaching the center has a symbolic message of enlightenment.
Enlightenment is a New Age term for all-knowing or being as God. This is an anti-Christian message found over and over again in spiritual mysticism. The labyrinth is no exception.

Here is a picture of a Labyrinth right inside of a Presbyterian church in Maryland. I simply do not understand. Do the congregations of today no longer have any discernment whatsoever? Do they not realize that this is an unholy blend of eastern mysticism and Christianity? Do Christians absent-mindedly swallow everything that is introduced by their leaders as “spiritual”?
The use of such a method as a labyrinth… is merely another method of meditation which is a way of emptying the mind. We have learned that the use of meditation is the doorway between worlds and the key to the metaphysical.
Contact with the higher self – inner self- or the search for divinity is the ultimate goal of occultism. Any terms in New Age circles such as enlightenment, Christ Consciousness, breath prayers, new gospel, centering prayers, contemplative prayer are suspect and to be avoided by the Christian.
Christianity is being invaded by eastern mysticism. Christians are allowing themselves to be taught how to achieve altered states of consciousness in order to enhance their lives. This is deceit. The bible teaches that were are not to be involved in such practices.
Below is part of an article from Steve Muse of Eastern Regional Watch
The Labyrinth: A Walk to Life or a Walk to Death?
Is it a coincidence that within the last 20 years an ancient practice that had been abandoned by the “Church” has once again been introduced within its very walls that is impacting thousands? Why now is it being welcomed with open arms with such great enthusiasm by an unsuspecting church populace? This is another of many deceptions that have risen up within the body of Christ to bring delusion upon those who do not love the truth of God’s word. What affect will this ancient practice have upon we the believers in Christ?
Across the country and throughout the nations a practice is being revived within the church, which has been dormant for centuries. In effect, an ancient tool has been “unearthed” or re-discovered and people have begun to experiment in the practice of walking the labyrinth. This is a practice that seems to bring a sense of spiritual well being for those participating in it but in reality it has trapped and is snaring many in darkness because of the labyrinth’s Occult origins.
Most of the practicing New Age occult world has known and still does, that the introduction of the labyrinth prayer walk is a victory for their cause, bringing the unsuspecting Christians into agreement with the overall plan of the Aquarian Age, where those participating in this practice could be captured or ensnared into the ways of Satan. ttp://www.cephas-library.com/na/new_age_labyrinth.
After researching the many websites on today’s use of the labyrinth, most agree that the labyrinth is a tool or device created to bring one into a higher spiritual realm through the use of meditation whether your are a practicing Zen Buddhist, a Hindu, a Muslim, a New Age Occultist, a Satanist, an atheist or even a “Christian.” My question now as it was at the beginning of this article is what is this labyrinth all about and how will it affect the believer in Christ?
If someone were to hand you an Ouija Board, telling you that it had been thoroughly redeemed and that other Christians were successfully using this board to bring them to a greater experience of God, would you also begin to entertain the thought of using this well known Occult method to seek God? Would you then use this Occult device, knowing full well that this is a tool or rather a gateway and portal to bring you into communication with “higher” spiritual entities (demons and familiar spirits). The labyrinth is much the same as the Ouija Board in its intent and purpose, to open one up to the influences of the demons of darkness, to supposedly gain wisdom and knowledge of the mysteries of life. Then why even begin to experiment or experience the sacred walk of the labyrinth?
In Deuteronomy 12:1-14 and again in Exodus 34:10-17, God commands us clearly not to participate in anything that has ever been used in pagan ritual for worship or for any other use, for that matter. The labyrinth has been from the very beginning a demonic temple, a Kundalini energy source, a tool of divination, a gateway and a portal to communicating with other spirits and was incorporated into the Roman Catholic experience at a time when there was little understanding of the Bible and little or no discernment.
People are drawn to the labyrinth by the subtle seductions of the spirit world trying to convince us that anyone can get to know “God” through some kind of spiritual experience. If this were the case then we have all been duped as Christians. If I knew that I could have a “God” experience just by walking the labyrinth then all that God did through the sacrifice that Jesus gave on the cross is really unnecessary to bring us into relationship with the Father, I just have to have an “experience” and all will be well.
Many believe that the labyrinth is the beginning of a “spiritual journey” opening up relationships with the ancient masters who will in turn offer the knowledge and wisdom of the ages to all who will take the first step or “the initiation” to enlightenment. Most Christians know or should know that the ancient masters are really familiar spirits or seducing demons and the initiation is a bonding with the powers of hell itself. Is this really a walk to life or a deception that will lure us onto a path to death?
http://www.erwm.com/TheLabyrinth.htm Here is the link for the entire above article from Eastern Regional Watch Ministries.
Researching labyrinths has been interesting. There are about 1954 currently in the United States. 793 of these are located within churches. YES…. IN THE CHURCHES OR ON THE CHURCH GROUNDS. I randomly scanned about 300 of these and here is the number of each denomination that has installed a labyrinth on their premise.
Baptist - 3
Church of Christ - 9
Lutheran - 17
Presbyterian - 24
Catholic - 28
Unity – 13
Unitarian - 16
United Methodist - 39
Undefined- 63
Episcopal - 88
These numbers are only representative of the total… but they show which churches are allowing contemplative spirituality into their ministries. The Undefined churches had a general name like Hope Church, The Foothills Church, etc. so they were impossible to designate. The remaining number of labyrinths (1161) not on church properties….were located in health/medical facilities, spas, retreats, private residences, parks, etc……I discovered that a local retreat about 10 miles from my home has 3 seasonal outdoor labyrinths.
http://wwll.veriditas.labyrinthsociety.org/locate-a-labyrinth Here is the site I used to find where the labyrinths are located. I invite you to take a look for yourself.
All of this eastern mysticism found in the church today is making me very cranky, sad, and burdened. I weep inside when i wonder what the Lord must think when He looks down at His own children, walking the traditional path of the lost and pagan.

Jeff,
Your story is very interesting and i thank you for sharing it…and it is encouraging to know that you have placed your faith in the King instead of Anthony Robbins.
Jesus never promised us an easy life.. in fact we are told that that there will be sorrows. But He is always with us and promises to never give us anymore than we can bear.
Those white clouds…..this is an eternal promise that you can hold onto.
sniff…sniff… i think i can smell the smoke……

Not looking for easy but improvement. Only in “his will” do I want it. What did you mean by opression? And trouble praying?
I have felt all this time that he wanted to help me, answer my prayers but could not. Like it sadend him and I had to correct somthing first. I kept asking what it was but he could not even tell me that. He had to wait on me to figure it out?
Does this make any sence?
I am asking you because you Said you also …

I think we can be oppressed spiritually..hindered or restricted by getting involved in mysticism. There seems to be lots of accounts where people have trouble praying or lose the desire to pray.
Makes a lot of sense.
I think you touched on a real truth when you said “He had to wait on me to figure it out”. Sometimes our eyes open up very fast to the truth and other times….He really waits till we cry out to Him.

ok,
Personal relationship with Jesus Christ. I seem to get confused on this one.
I believe that to have a relationship with some we have to first be able to comunicate. So we can relate. Wright?
So I pray and ask god a question and then what?
I talk the he what’s?
I heard it is supposed to be a still faint voice. Or then the old open and closed doors or maby it’s windows don’t remember.
I have read some were that you would be going to do somthing and he would tell you “stay far away from these people”
Ok I read this and I think did he like wright you a note, show you a sign, call you up on the phone LOL?
How does he comunicate with you?
Is it dif for every one ? What doors what windows? What the heck? I mean I have been trying to find a way to comunicate personally with him for 20 plus
years now.
Am I missing somthing?
I mean wouldn’t be cool if I could ask the lord in prayer for somthing and on his will actully answers it and I to could have somthing to whitness to some one. Like my new born x buda wife that Is like ok I keep praying for for help with the buz for like a long long time now and wait. I don’t know what to tell her.
It looks like god has put me in a great place for recruting as I am surronded by budist ” non belevers” I mean Christ came for the wickd not the richous. I have been in this situation for 8 years now always thought that was why I have come close a couple times getting there entrest but I think I need some cred for the brocure if you know w I m .
I mean as for me the only thing I have ever asked for is the guitar. All of my other prayers are for every one els. I mean there good prayers.
Really a cup of coffe my guitar and I am a happy man! LOL
Christ is lord
Jeff
Ps Christ is lord is a old secret hand shake phrase that was used in the church to test some one new. You would shake say it and if they did not respond in kind you knew.

Jeff,
I would look into finding a good Bible believing church where you feel at home in and cared for.
If your heart doesn’t condemn you with the guitar than relax you are under God’s grace if you have been born again. It is good to give praise to the Lord.

The absolute best way to hear from the Lord is to open the Bible, and then pray for understanding and that the Holy Spirit will help you and teach you.
The small still voice of the Lord helps, guides and comforts, but John 1:1 says:
“In the beginning was the Word, and Word was with God, and Word as God.”
The more i read and absorb God’s Word the more i can to know God and all His truth, His promises, and His laws.
Hey, i have been witnessing to a Buddhist myself. I promised prayer for one that is having a problem….
Yes, i did get a warning from the Holy Spirit to stay away from a certain group of people. But as I grow in the Lord, it is from reading and studying scripture that I learn the most.

As I recall there was only 4 or 5 kinds of churches when I was a kid all pretty main stream. Abought 100,000,000 Christians or so in America. How many kinds are there now? If I were the enemy facing such a army what would I do?
Rember guys ? We had basicly the prods cathlics and any thing else moonies or what ever was a no brainer and a no no… But now in 2008 are you kidding me?
The mighty Christian arm has been reduced to luke warm with much devision and in fighting.
I mean when my methedist church went left I was like can I have my money back?
He guys would you recomend the weslian doctrin ? I mean do you thinks it’s safe?

Astral projection or travel falls into the occult practice of out of body experiences. Once someone enters this spiritual realm you no longer have the protection of the Holy Spirit but instead become powered by evil spirits. This practice is not from God even though i heard it is pleasant. People who can “see” into the supernatural realm usually are reluctant to give up this ability thinking it is special and from the Lord. But to not do so is rebellion and pride. Divination is condemned in the book of Deuteronomy.
Please stay away from Rick Warren. He teaches a milk-toast, social gospel and is involved with the Council of Foreign Relations and uses business methods to inflate the size of his church. He also is aligned and was taught by Robert Schuller, and his P.E.A.C.E. plan ties in with UN globalization….just for starts….

yea it was the buz part that was atractive to me. Guess you figured that out..
This is pretty crazy… My father before the h a used to work for this guy. He managed the condo where warren lived here in Jupiter fl I think he sometimes handeled his personal affairs.. Last I heard the warrens moved to Atlanta but they might still have a house in bordering tequsta fl over the bridge if you will.
Oh well maby someday I can wright a buz book based soley on bible fundinentals.. Seems there’s an evident nich in the market!
I would need a really good editor and spell checker. LOL
I must say this is the only true fellowship I have had in many many years.
Thanks for all your warmth and kindness you have been a true sister,

The night I burned a r I was lying in bed awaiting my demon to be reveald and saw my self like over me on the sealing kinds just a floaty image in a light.. I looked really good and happy the good part was normal. LOL
Anway it might have been more in my head than out being I was kinds exspecting somthing to happen in all..
I also how ever saw jimmy page and Robert plant of led zepplin a band I used to really like alot before I learns that page owned and lived I’m alister crowlys
The biggest satinest of all time.. I mean I think crowly prob freaks even the devil out..
Plant and page looked very evil in my image and it was like in black & white.
Anway thought I would share and clarify.

Hi Jeff,
Sorry i haven’t been able to respond as fast and often as i did on Monday but that was my day off.
We have had some good conversations and my hope is that the cloud that you first spoke of is lifting. God is so wise. And isn’t He so patient with us? He teaches us sometimes a little at a time otherwise we would be overcome. And you have showed me some things too! Thank you!
Christ is Lord Indeed. He is the reason we exist.. to give Him glory.
November 20, 2008 at 9:34 pm
Kim
no…..a green worm doesn’t mean anything to me..but….these experiences should stop. Ignore them and call upon the name of Jesus in prayer. Ask the Lord to stop all paranormal or unusual spiritual experiences.
I prayed that Jesus would close up any wrong spiritual openings i had allowed and He did.

page owned and lived at crowlys house in England I don’t know why my phone thingy keeps doing that. Sorry.. Yea if want to resurch the occult you needn’t go any further than jimmy page. What a waste a truley great guitarist.. So sad. He actually imcorporates black magic in to his stage performance you would not know it though that is the dangerous part they are the biggest rock & roll band of all time! They arnt a satin promo band where it’s ovious and for sales promotion. Led zeppllin is very sudle to decieve the masses.
Just google jiimmy page and the occult you might want to cosider a whole new blog here with your findings..

Jeff,
I know this is getting off topic but you mentioned finding a church.
here are some good websites that discuss how to find a good church:
http://www.wayofthemasterradio.com/pdf/HowToFindAGoodChurch.pdf
http://www.letusreason.org/Doct75.htm
Reformed churches teach solid doctrine – personally, I would stick to them.
something tells me since you like music so much, you probably would like the contemporary worship and atmosphere of a Calvary Chapel church.
Where ever you end up, take your time and investigate. Many churches post audio sermons on their website so you can get an idea of what they are like.
also, some really good teaching sites are RBC: radio bible class http://www.radiobibleclass.org
Back To The Bible with Woodrow Kroll
RC Sproul
Michael Youssef
just some suggestions (my favorites). I don’t mean to speak for Kim.

hhmm… options????
how about this one
Rom 12:19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but [rather] give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance [is] mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
Rom 12:20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.
Rom 12:21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good
or this
Mar 6:11 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.
Something happened to me the other day and i rather got my dander up and an unkind thought entered my head, but what followed immediately was……
“Do no repay evil with evil…..” oh! okay Lord.
By keeping myself daily in the Word of God, my mind is being transformed and i begin to think biblically instead of self…….
I still make lots of mistakes though……lots of repentance is needed. My knees get awful sore.
I thank you for sticking up for me though!!! But pray for this person instead.

Jeff,
Huh, I didn’t picture you a pews and hymn kind of guy. I understand. I like that atmosphere especially the old hymns myself. I actually prefer a mix of old hymns and contemporary songs. I guess where ever God’s truth is taught -that’s the best place to be whatever the place looks like.
Jeff,
Kim is right. The kingdom of God doesn’t grow by force but by demonstrated love and truth. The gospel is for all no matter the sin. We can’t fall too far that God cannot save us.
